Ponziani Winery
The project, which started from the passion of a group of women for these mystical lands, refers to the figure of Etruria who was an extraordinarily modern woman if referred to the context of her ancient world. As the etruscologist Gemma Bechini wrote, like all Etruscan women “they are not too close to their husband at the table, but close to the first guest of those present and they toast to the health of those they want… “. In homage to these women, the wines produced have Etruscan names in memory of those who had worked the land.
Vineyard
The vineyards of Tenuta Ponziani are spread over three hectares and farm both white and red grapes. They extend over slightly sloping land and the orientation of the lines favours an equal distribution of light and heat for optimal ripening of the fruit. The peculiarity of the soil, a volcanic type rich in minerals called Venanzite, gives a characteristic singularity to the flavour and color of the wine.
Location
In 2010 an underground wine-making cellar was built and covered in a typical stone of the area called tuff so as to ensure an adequate temperature for the wine and protect it from light. Its modern equipment houses the entire wine production of the vineyard and the entire winemaking process – pressing, must treatment, fermentation and ageing – are carried out according to high quality standards and supervised by an expert oenologist which result in the production of excellent quality wines. The adjacent tasting room has walls set up with displays in transparent material, in order to enhance the colour and the labels of the wines. Customers can visit the cellar and participate in tastings to allow them to experience new senses and learn the secrets of this extraordinary form of art.

Ponziani Velia, Grechetto and Chardonnay, named after an Etruscan noblewoman with strong personality, which we are able to find in this wine;
Ponziani Fasti, Merlot and Cabernet / Sauvignon, with the Etruscan meaning of profitable day, contains the excellence of the harvest in its name;
Ponziani Vethia, Chardonnay in enclosed purity, from the divinity of the earth which expresses the volcanic soil minerals on the palate;
Ponziani Northia, pure Merlot, divinity of fate, which we find in the prosperity of vintage and in the rich and intense character.

Suggerimenti del sommelier
Ponziani Fasti: Alla vista del fortunato degustatore, il Ponziani Fasti mostra un seducente abito color rubino, attraversato da bagliori violacei. L’impianto odoroso esibisce un ampio ventaglio fruttato, con riconoscimenti di piccoli frutti rossi: lampone e ribes in modo particolare, marasca, mora di rovo e mirtillo, intrecciati con tabacco biondo e suggestivi richiami floreali, fusi con note scure, di china e grafite. Analoga espressività ritroviamo alla gustativa, vivificata dalla presenza di un frutto croccante e di una ben percepibile, seppur garbata, impalcatura acida, da un tessuto tannico levigato, ma di aristocratica consistenza, e di un finale piacevolmente amaricante, che ripropone coerentemente le sensazioni vissute dall’olfatto.
Ponziani Velia: Di colore giallo paglierino con riflessi verdolini brillanti, al naso risulta netto, di spiccata eleganza; sentori di frutti a bacca bianca quali mela, ananas, pompelmo avvolti con sfumature minerali e leggermente ammandorlati tipici dei grechetti con personalità nobile. Al palato l’assaggio stupisce per l’acidità, per la sapidità e la seducente percezione minerale uniti sotto un’irrefrenabile piacevolezza di beva. E’ un vino armonico, capace prima di intrappolare, poi di condividere le peculiarità di un terroir unico e di rara piacevolezza. La sua poliedricità lo rende bevibile in una infinità di occasioni e con una moltiplicità di cibi, sicuramente può essere degustato con dei crudi di pesce, con antipasti di mare e di terra, ma anche con primi piatti delicati a base di verdure, ed è sicuramente ottimo come aperitivo.
